Funded through the Chief Scientist’s Office, Health Innovation South East Scotland (HISES) forms part of national network created to deliver the Scottish Government’s vision to utilise the innovation process to deliver a healthier and wealthier nation for the future.

Formed through a collaboration of three NHS Boards — Borders, Fife and Lothian, with the latter taking on the role of lead host Board, HISES has a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions to the health and social challenges, both regionally and nationally. Need to contact us?

HISES Innovation Clinical Lead for Mental Health Opportunity!

Expressions of interest are now invited for the post of Innovation Clinical Lead for Mental Health (Children and Young People), to work as part of the HISES Team. This opportunity is for 2 years in the first instance for 1 session per week.

Applicants will be East Region (Borders, Fife, and Lothian) practicing clinical leaders in Mental Health services with current or previous experience of working with CAMHs patients. You will bring your clinical knowledge and leadership skills to support HISES in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with partners, securing external funding, and creating innovative solutions to complex health and social care needs.

Applications must be submitted by Tuesday, 19th April at 12noon with interviews taking place on Monday, 25th April.

HISES Innovation Project Manager Closing Soon

An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated,      innovative, and ambitious person to support the   delivery of transformational and innovative change in the provision of health and care services, working collaboratively with senior colleagues across the public sector, academia, the third sector and Scottish based life science industries.

The post holder will be a part of the core regional team based in NHS Lothian and will support this   exciting programme of work. The main purpose of this post is to support the delivery of the HISES innovation strategy by managing innovation testbed projects, through the development of staff innovation ideas and the co-development of innovation projects with industry.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Thursday, 21st April.

Scottish AI Education Event

This year’s National AI education event is taking place 9am – 12.30pm on Monday, 9th May in partnership with Nvidia, NHS Scotland and the Scottish Radiology Transformation Project.

The aim of the event is to highlight the 3 main AI  projects that are coming to NHS Scotland within the next year.
The event is open to anyone within imaging that has an interest in artificial intelligence. Anyone who registers will have access to the recording after the event and is free to attend.

Cancer Strategy: draft vision, aims and priority areas

Cabinet Secretary Humza Yousaf has welcomed the launch of a consultation to draw up a 10-year-plan to improve cancer outcomes. The new strategy, which will start next year has a key focus on earlier diagnosis, cancer incidence, treatment times, survival rates and much more.

The Cancer Strategy consultation calls for ambitious and innovative contributions to tackle the disease. Read the full draft and respond to the consultation with your views.

Kindocoin Phase 2 SBRI Launches!

The Kindocoin SBRI project has officially launched the beginning of Phase 2 with the challenge focus remaining on enabling the creation of strong, supportive, valued and digitally connected communities.

Phase 2 will run for 12 months and will present the opportunity for the two successful companies to further develop and evaluate their prototype solution in a real-world setting. We are delighted to announce that the two shortlisted companies TeamKinetic and Uppertunity, started Phase 2 on 11th April 2022.
