Techscaler & NHS Innovation Hubs Webinar

Techscaler, in collaboration with NHS Innovation Hubs, hosted a webinar geared toward strengthening the health technology ecosystem in Scotland. The webinar, now available on YouTube, brought together innovators, NHS professionals, policy makers, and start-ups to spotlight key opportunities, challenges, and success stories within digital health.

Fostering Collaboration Between NHS and Innovators

The webinar opened with introductory remarks from Techscaler and representatives of NHS Innovation Hubs, who set the tone by emphasising the urgency of accelerating adoption of health-tech innovations across the NHS. Their goal: to break down silos, reduce barriers to deployment and foster a climate of co-creation between clinical teams and technology developers.

Over the course of the session, speakers and panelists addressed several core themes:

  • Digital transformation in healthcare
  • How emerging technologies such as AI, remote monitoring and data platforms are reshaping patient care and how to integrate them in NHS contexts without disruption
  • Navigating regulatory and procurement landscapes
  • Insights and practical advice on meeting NHS procurement rules, compliance with data protection standards and pathways for pilot projects
  • Funding and scaling innovations
  • Opportunities for start-ups to receive grants, join accelerator programmes or collaborate with NHS innovation hubs to scale solutions.
  • Real-world case studies from innovators who have successfully piloted or rolled out healthtech solutions within NHS settings, including measurable impacts on patient outcomes, efficiency or cost savings.

Several panelists stressed that technology must be shaped around clinical workflows and user experience for adoption to actually happen. Many innovators advocated for starting with “minimum viable pilots” in one ward or department, then iterating and scaling gradually across NHS sites. The importance of support networks – innovation hubs, accelerator programmes, mentorship and funding was repeatedly referenced as a tipping point between success and stagnation.

Each speaker brought a unique perspective on bridging the gap between innovative ideas and real-world implementation within the NHS.
