Funded through the Chief Scientist’s Office, Health Innovation South East Scotland (HISES) forms part of national network created to deliver the Scottish Government’s vision to utilise the innovation process to deliver a healthier and wealthier nation for the future.

Formed through a collaboration of three NHS Boards — Borders, Fife and Lothian, with the latter taking on the role of lead host Board, HISES has a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions to the health and social challenges, both regionally and nationally. Need to contact us?

DDE Innovation Seed Funding Available

The University of Edinburgh has launched a new initiative looking to support University-led digital or data-driven companies and advance social and economic recovery from Covid-19.

Delivered by Edinburgh Innovations’ Investment Management team, the fund is designed to overcome the challenge faced by many young companies – refining their idea and winning early investment.

Applications are open until 25th March so apply now to avoid disappointment!

AI Skin Cancer Consortium Launch Event – 24th March 2021

Improving Hip Fracture Outcomes Using Data SBRI Closing Soon!

The Hip Fracture Challenge has been developed in response to an innovation opportunity being identified as part of the NHS Lothian Orthopaedic Quality Improvement Programme at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. Organisations can apply for a share of £160,000 inclusive of VAT to develop a solution which will improve quality of care and outcomes for hip fracture patients.

UKRI CDT in Biomedical AI Industry Event 19th March 2021

The University of Edinburgh has placed health and biomedicine at the heart of their Data Driven Innovation agenda and a key contribution to this is the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Biomedical Artificial Intelligence to transform our understanding and practice of biomedicine. Free Online Course – The Power of Data in Health and Social Care

This free course has been developed by The University of Strathclyde, The Data Lab, UrbanTide and the DHI. You’ll discover the principles of using healthcare data analytics, best practices around data governance, tools to help you manage and analyse data, and how to work collaboratively with data scientists and digital teams. This course is for frontline, middle and senior management staff working in the health and care sectors, including the 3rd sector.
