Funded through the Chief Scientist’s Office, Health Innovation South East Scotland (HISES) forms part of national network created to deliver the Scottish Government’s vision to utilise the innovation process to deliver a healthier and wealthier nation for the future.

Self-Care and Wellbeing: A Guide for Health and Social Care

A new open-access short online course has developed by the University of Edinburgh and is now available for enrolment to go live on 31st January 2022.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought major challenges and pressures for health and social care workers, as well as for students in the sector. Through necessity, frontline workers and students have been required to accept greater levels of responsibility – leading to an increase in stress and physical, mental, and emotional fatigue and exhaustion.

On this three-week course, you will be introduced to a range of self-care and mindfulness practices designed to improve your stress management and overall wellbeing.

We are currently recruiting for an Innovation Project Support Officer role which is available on a 24-month fixed term contract or can be offered as a developmental secondment opportunity.

Hosted by NHS Lothian on behalf of the East of Scotland Region, this exciting full-time opportunity will involve providing a key administrative project support role for the Innovation Office which will help deliver transformational and innovative change in the provision of health and care services, working collaboratively with colleagues across the public sector, academia, the third sector and Scottish based life science industries.

BMA Foundation – 2022 Grants now open for applications

The BMA Foundation provides approximately £910,000 of research funding annually, this year across 14 different grants.

Funding areas range from heart disease to schizophrenia to the impact of working pressures on the medical profession. Applications are invited from medical practitioners and/or research scientists for research in progress or prospective research.

The 2022 BMA Foundation grants are now open, and applications will close on 4th March 2022. Details of funding available, deadlines and contact details can all be found via the below link.

Join Holyrood for the Digital Health and Care Scotland Conference in 2022

Holyrood Connect is delighted to announce the in-person return of its hugely popular Digital Health and Care Scotland conference on 22nd – 23rd February 2022.

The conference will provide delegates with an opportunity to explore how digital technology can help re-build and remobilise our health and care system and, eventually, support the shift from crisis mode to a system focused on prevention, early intervention and self-management.

The event follows the publication of the Scottish Government’s refreshed Digital Health and Care Strategy in October 2021 and will include discussions on many of the issues incorporated in it, from digital exclusion and citizen choice to data use and artificial intelligence.

The iTPA £5K Springboard Fund closes soon

The Springboard Fund offers a grant to help fund the further development of early-stage ideas into impactful translational projects.

If you’re seeking to prototype and test an idea, develop proof-of-principle of the translational application of your research, or even early proof-of-concept, this funding opportunity might be the first fundamental step in enabling access to larger grants, including the £20K iTPA Accelerator Fund, in your journey to commercialisation and impact.

Join Innovate UK KTN in the launch of the Design Innovation Network as they set out their vision and explore the powerful possibilities for Design to instigate positive change in innovation across sector and technology areas.

Applications open for the Digital Health and Care Leadership Programme

Applications are now being taken for Cohort 17 of the Digital Health and Care Leadership Programme. The programme is designed for experienced health and care professionals who have an interest in digital health and care; a passion to increase the use of technology for the benefit of service users; and determination to develop their leadership skills.

Applications are welcome from employees within NHS Scotland, social care and the third sector who are leading a team, service or digital transformation within their organisation, and welcome multidisciplinary team applications.

Applications close 3rd February 2022.

The Data Lab MSc Programme Funding Call for 2022-23

The Data Lab MSc is a collaborative programme between The Data Lab, Scottish Universities and industry partners, which aims to develop talented data scientists and engineers to support the Scottish economy.

This call is open to Scottish Universities to apply to receive £6000 per student to cover MSc course tuition fees for data science, data engineering and artificial intelligence related courses for the academic year 2022-23.
