Lung Cancer Service Design workshop

In January, a multi-disciplinary group from the lung cancer service at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre (ECC) attended a design workshop facilitated by the Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI). The aim of this workshop was to carry out several exercises to map the current pathway, review innovation that is being untaken in other areas and then translate this into a ‘future journey’ blueprint – looking at opportunity areas for innovation that would ultimately deliver on the new Cancer Centre providing a truly transformed regional cancer service. The idea being to think about the ‘art of possible’ for what we need to do to improve the way we work, to improve outcomes for our patients, and to improve the end-to-end experience that our patients and their families/carers go through along their journey within the service – and to do this co-design work in collaboration with our staff, third sector partners and patients. We will keep you updated with the outcomes from this workshop and the pipeline of innovation projects in this space as they develop.

This is in line with the Scottish Government’s Mental Health Strategy 2017-2027 vision where people can get the right help at the right time, expect recovery, and fully enjoy their rights, free from discrimination and stigma. We are pleased to announce that the two companies working with HISES in Phase 1 are Wysa Ltd and Sentireal.
