Funded through the Chief Scientist’s Office, Health Innovation South East Scotland (HISES) forms part of national network created to deliver the Scottish Government’s vision to utilise the innovation process to deliver a healthier and wealthier nation for the future.

Formed through a collaboration of three NHS Boards — Borders, Fife and Lothian, with the latter taking on the role of lead host Board, HISES has a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions to the health and social challenges, both regionally and nationally. Need to contact us?

NHS Scotland Innovation Fellowship Scheme - Applications Open!

Cohort 1 of the Innovation Fellowship Scheme launched on Wednesday, 4th May 2022. The aim of the Innovation Fellowship Scheme is to strengthen the innovation culture to solve real problems in the NHS and social care, improving the quality, efficiency and sustainability of health and care delivery and supporting NHS Scotland’s Re-mobilise, Recover, Re-design Framework.

The scheme will support NHS Scotland staff in developing an innovation career within their post. Applications close at 5pm on Wednesday, 15th June 2022.

Digital Health Leadership Programme

NHS Digital Academy Cohort 5

The application process is now open for Cohort 5 of the NHS Digital Leadership Academy which is run by Imperial College London in partnership with The University of Edinburgh and Health Data Research UK (HDR).

The closing date for applications is Friday 29th May 2022 and it is anticipated successful applicants for Cohort 5 will commence their learning in September 2022.  Applications are welcomed from across health, care, housing and the third sector.

NHS Tayside HaarSain PPE / decontamination SBRI

NHS Tayside Innovation Team is helping to drive forward innovative solutions for the NHS to challenges created by COVID-19 by hosting a year-long research and development initiative with industry partners.

The Scottish Government has invested £400,000 to run this Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) to drive forward vital innovation in reusable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and decontamination technologies. The six companies involved in the SBRI are developing a range of potential solutions to meet the SBRI challenge. Short YouTube video.

Delivered by Edinburgh Innovations’ Investment Management team, the DDE Innovation Seed Fund is looking to invest in data-driven companies at the University of Edinburgh to help them take their venture to the next level!

Registration Now Open for the NHS Scotland Event 2022

Registration is now open for the NHS Scotland Event 2022, which will take place Tuesday 21st June and Wednesday 22nd June at the P&J Live in Aberdeen. On Monday 20th June delegates are invited to attend our very first Experience Day.
